The organization of the XV Mitja Marató de Formentera and the 8KM Sant Ferran-La Savina, which will be held on May 11, 2024, announces the opening of the period to request pre-registration in one of the two races starting today, Wednesday 15 November, and until next December 15. In this edition, the total number of places remains as last year: 2,000 for the Mitja Marató and 1,000 for the 8KM.
In order to obtain a place, it is necessary to previously participate in the pre-registration process, which is free and is carried out through the official website of the test http://www.marato-formentera.com/. If once pre-registration is completed there are more pre-registered athletes than places available, a draw for places will be held before a notary on December 20.
Regular residents of Formentera and those who have participated in five or more editions are exempt from pre-registration, and in both cases their place is guaranteed. The former can request it through the Esports area of the Formentera Consell, while the latter will receive a code in their email to access the platform and confirm their registration. The deadline for registration of the latter also ends on December 15.
Among all those pre-registered, the organization will raffle on December 20, before a notary, the places that remain available, once those formalized by those who have taken the test in 5 or more editions have been discounted. Once the draw has been carried out, the winners will be able to confirm their registration between December 23 and January 12, 2024.
As has become common in recent editions of the event, which has the institutional sponsorship of the Formentera Council and the Government of the Balearic Islands, the high demand for participation and the island's own territorial limitations force the organization to establish this registration system to cover the 3,000 participants allowed between both tests.
